Our Mission
How it began
Our journey began in 2017, when David, the founder of Bwitiboga, first encountered the profound healing power of Iboga. Struggling with depression, anxiety, and the lingering effects of PTSD, he discovered in this sacred plant and the Bwiti tradition a pathway to transformation and renewal.
In 2021, David traveled to Gabon where he trained and graduated as an Iboga provider under the guidance of 10th generation Shaman Moughenda Mikala. This experience not only deepened his commitment to personal healing, but also awakened a passion to share these traditions with others in an authentic and respectful way.
Our Mission
We are dedicated to honoring the Bwiti tradition and sharing the transformative power of Iboga with the world. Our mission is rooted in three guiding principles:
• Tradition – staying true to the teachings of the Bwiti tradition.
• Reciprocity – giving back to the communities in Gabon who preserve and carry this sacred lineage.
• Healing & Growth – creating safe, responsible, and supportive environments where individuals can experience deep transformation.
Our Connection to Gabon
Every year, we return to Moughenda Village to reconnect with the community, bring back authentic medicines, and contribute to the sustainable development of the village. We believe in maintaining a reciprocal relationship, ensuring that our work abroad directly supports the people and culture that safeguard this tradition.
Our Vision
When David founded Bwitiboga in 2023, he did so with a clear vision: to create an Iboga sanctuary in Central America:
A tropical retreat center where Iboga can be experienced in a peaceful, beautiful environment
With a living garden of plant medicines, cultivated with care and respect
Hosting year-round retreats supporting individuals on their journey of self-discovery and spiritual growth.
Looking ahead, we are also committed to building the first authentic Bwiti temple in the West, sourcing materials directly from Gabon to preserve the integrity of the tradition.
