Moughenda Mikala

10th Generation Shaman

Moughenda was first introduced to the Iboga medicine in the womb. At just 8 years old he took his very first flood dose of Iboga and started training with his grandfather. It took about twenty years of intensive training and four major initiations to earn him the title of Bwiti Shaman.

Moughenda was guided by the medicine to open up the Missoko Bwiti tradition and its powerful Iboga healing medicine to anyone interested in learning and healing with it. He moved to North America where he spent sixteen years learning the languages and culture.

Today, he lives and works in Gabon, Africa where he safeguards the Bwiti tradition and way of life. He is the only shaman ever given the right to lead Westerners inside Bwiti shamanic training.

ABOUT YOUR PROVIDER

When I first came to Iboga, I felt like I had tried everything, and if this didn’t work, I didn’t know what would.

My life was a mess. I was depressed, had ADHD, severe social anxiety, and PTSD from my service in Afghanistan with the Canadian Infantry. I was totally lost spiritually and mentally, so I decided to do whatever it took to get myself right.

In the span of a year, I went to Unleash the Power Within with Tony Robbins and walked on fire, sat with Ayahuasca seven times in Costa Rica, attended San Pedro ceremonies, did a superhero dose of mushrooms, and tried some LSD. But no matter what I did, I always felt like there was still a missing piece I just couldn’t quite put my finger on.

Shortly after my 28th birthday, I attended a traditional Bwiti Iboga retreat, and on the very first night we did the medicine, I got to meet my soul and see exactly what my problem was and how to fix it.

The whole process was so efficient and effective that, that same night, I knew I wanted to go deep into this tradition and become an Iboga provider.

Over the next three years, I sorted my life out. Then I traveled to Gabon and trained with 10th-generation Shaman Moughenda in his village, got initiated into the tribe, completed the Rites of Passage, and graduated from provider training in 2021 to become an Iboga provider.

I've been running retreats around the world ever since, working towards opening our own retreat center. What started as a desperate search to get my own life back has become the work I've dedicated my life to.
